I want to write but I can’t. I have ideas in my head I want to get to but I don’t like the bridges. I just wrote one hell of a dream chapter. My latest story has the dual nature of taking place in the waking world and the dream world. The rub is that the waking world’s story is still starting while the dream world is always ready with a story.
I have an interesting protagonist. She’s ready for adventure in the waking world but for some reason I can’t get through the preparatory bits quick enough. I waste so much time on inane conversations. I have somewhere around thirty thousand words and not enough of them move the plot forward.
I’m a guy who writes a lot of character stuff. I guess I stick to the quiet moments too long. I put my characters into casual conversations and let them run. I’m writing fantasy but I’m spending so much time in inane conversations that I forget to indulge in my alien world. I have magic and fantastic technologies and complex political landscapes, quirky music references to stuff in.
Maybe it might be because for me a solid conversation is a fantasy?
